When your child has a heart condition that is being monitored, or has had an intervention or surgery, watching and waiting can feel like its own kind of stress. I make communication simple and responsive. When you have questions about your child's care plan or how they are doing, you can reach out directly via message or phone for timely answers, without waiting weeks for the next available opening.
At your visit, I evaluate your child thoroughly, explain everything clearly, and build a monitoring plan so changes are caught early, before they become urgent.
I provide pediatric and fetal cardiology expertise in Vista and North County San Diego - including Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, San Marcos, Solana Beach, and Del Mar and beyond. No referral is needed and appointments are available within one day to one week.
Conditions I care for
I provide outpatient evaluation and care for children with congenital heart disease, from simple defects to complex conditions like HLHS, single-ventricle disease, and transposition. I coordinate surgical or interventional care with your child's hospital team.

Why ongoing monitoring matters
Many children with congenital heart disease grow into active teenagers and young adults. However, lifelong cardiology follow-up is important because:
- Some defects progress over time
- Valve disease can develop or worsen
- Obstruction of blood vessels can change
- Heart rhythm abnormalities may develop
- Ventricular function or squeeze can change with growth
I monitor your child's heart as they grow and help you understand what changes to watch for and when they require intervention. Regular surveillance catches problems with the heart early, while they may be easiest to manage.
When care moves between doctors or falls out of routine, small problems with the heart can go unnoticed. Staying connected to a cardiologist who knows your child is one of the most helpful ways to support their care.
Transition to Adult Care
As your child reaches their late teenage years, I help coordinate transition to an Adult Congenital Heart Disease specialist who specializes in caring for young adults and adults with congenital heart disease.
How the Evaluation Works
When you come to see me for a congenital heart condition, I review all previous records, imaging, and surgical reports. During your visit, I perform a history and physical exam, an electrocardiogram (ECG or heart rhythm test), and an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) if indicated to assess the heart structure and function. I explain everything I find using drawings so you understand your child's specific anatomy, what we're monitoring for, and what happens next. You receive a written report through the patient portal that is shared with your child's other physicians.
