Pediatric or Fetal Cardiac Second Opinion

• You were given a diagnosis and would like another explanation

It is designed to complement your primary doctor's care - providing an added layer of insight.

It is an independent, thorough review of your child's cardiac care and, in most cases, a complete evaluation performed by me.

• It is not emergency care. If your child is in acute distress or having an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
• It is not a promise of a different answer. Sometimes the original assessment is confirmed, and knowing that with confidence is itself the value.

I am glad to review outside records, and I review them in full before we meet. I can also review outside echocardiogram, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI images when uploaded or transferred in advance. A detailed image review has an additional cost for each study (please see Pricing page); written reports are reviewed as part of your evaluation at no additional cost.

The easiest way to share outside imaging is through electronic secure upload directly to my account. I can provide your imaging facility with an upload link - just ask them to contact my office for the details, or let me know if you'd like to give it to them yourself. In most cases I prefer to perform the echocardiogram myself. That way I obtain the best-quality images of every structure I need, make all the measurements accurately, and can be confident nothing has been missed.

In short: I review all of your or your child's records before we meet, perform the evaluation and the echocardiogram myself when indicated, explain everything using drawings, and send you and your referring physicians a written plan.

A second opinion consists of either a Comprehensive Pediatric Cardiac Evaluation or Comprehensive Fetal Cardiac Evaluation, performed independently.
