Chest Pain, Palpitations, and Fainting in Children
Unexplained chest pain, palpitations, or fainting in your child is worrying and disruptive. The path forward starts with understanding what's actually happening. Once you know, you can make a clear plan - whether that's full clearance to return to sports, or specific restrictions. Either way, you have answers and a concrete next step. I can typically see your child within days, with no referral required. That clarity often comes sooner than you might expect. Early evaluation matters. When something is present, an early diagnosis allows me to build a clear plan for your child's care. And when the heart is normal, knowing that clearly lets your child get back to being a kid.
If your child is having chest pain, palpitations, or fainting right now: If your child is experiencing active symptoms, especially fainting, severe chest pain, or a racing heartbeat that won't slow down, please go to urgent care or the emergency department rather than waiting for an office appointment. Early evaluation matters, but immediate evaluation is appropriate for active concerns.
Why This Matters Beyond the Symptom Itself
Recurrent symptoms without a clear explanation affect more than the moment they happen. Children miss school. Teens sit out of sports or avoid social situations out of fear of another episode. Families live with ongoing uncertainty. A thorough evaluation is about more than ruling out a serious heart condition. It is about allowing you and your child to move forward with a concrete plan.
